Not Politically Correct

Nobody these days want's thier photo taken standing near the car slugging down whiskey but I see a few such as these from the early days of automobiles. The one with the four men is humorous to me despite my feelings about drinking and driving. Seems the full bottle is getting passed the wrong way for the gent on the right and he's stuck with the empty. The fellow on the left on the other hand I think must be the designated driver as he shows no interest at all. Either that or he's had more then his fill and is off dreaming about other things.
The picture on top I like for the great car and of course the ladies fashion.

OOPs

Ok, somehow the last post that is here was meant for the other blog. I explained all that on the other one about error message and stuff. Not sure what happened and was first going to remove it but then decided that for folks that might see this one it will help direct them to take a look at the other so I am going to leave it. It's late and I don't have a photo ready for today but should be back with one on Thursday. So if you already read all the drivel underneath on my drawing blog don't bother again as it is basically the same but do look at the photo's under as they were the post meant for this blog.

Suspenders

Another pen and ink, really my favorite tool for drawing although time consuming and unforgiving in many cases.

It was hot today, wont say how hot because friends like Mike would say "that isn't hot" but it was hot for us northlanders. I would still rather sweat then shiver but days like this I have to remind myself. I went shopping with my wife which if you have been following know is not my favorite activity, not a bad trip, short hop to Lowes, the hardware/ everything store.

On the way back home we stopped at a favorite restaurant for lunch (Applebee's) where Vince and I and his wife had lunch often when we worked together sometimes joined by my wife.

It didn't hit me at first, had to go out and get my glasses I forgot as always and coming back noticed my wife's face was drenched in sweat. As she told me why I started to notice it was stuffy and uncomfortable inside there and slow that I am realized they had no air conditioning.

We were talking about that when the waiter came and took our order. I asked him the obvious and he admitted it wasn't working. By the time we finished ordering my wife maybe reading my mind asked him to make it to go. We weren't upset or anything, stuff happens right, not bitching at him about it, just decided to take it home where it would be cooler. I don't think we were anyway but soon after he left the manager came over and apologized for the heat, explaining it had just gone out. We smiled and said stuff happens and all was Ok. She left and we sat waiting and a few minutes another manager came over and apologized. Then after a few minutes more the first one came back and apologized again and told us that because of the inconvenience they were picking up the check. I had been thinking that maybe with the air thing they might throw in free drinks or something but nope, she took the check away, $35.00 worth of it. Our free food was ready soon after and the second manager, the general one came over again and apologized a second time. We don't look like anybody important, honest and we go there now and then but not all that often. I thought it was pretty nice of them so that why I'm telling it here but can't guarantee it is policy so don't drive around looking for Applebee's with no air conditioning.

Packed Up

A common kind of picture, the family car looking like it's packed up for a trip, maybe camping or something. No need to say again that the car really changed the look and lifestyle of America and the world I'm sure, people getting out exploring and going further from home in a weekend road trip then thier parents ever did in a lifetime.

Two Pics

Both of these have a postcard back, the fairy trimmed down quite a bit. It looks like something commercial so I think maybe just something someone liked and added to thier album rather then a family member. The policeman is kind of odd to me as I haven't seen that many wearing a bow tie.

Dad and his boys

Maybe this was a fathers day present from mom, studio portrait of dad and his two sons. There was no info on the pic but in absence of that I get to make up my own story about it. They were certainly dressed up nice for it.

More from the same album

Two more that came from the same family as yesterday but not the same location. The picture with the calf is marked on the back Waverly New York, 1919 and the other is Chambersburg, June 1918. It was nice of these folks to label the pictures like that. Lots of people do or mark in the album under the picture and sometimes even a little narrative which is great but many others figure nobody but family will ever look and they would know what it is. I, of course love the pictures but it's always kind of sad to me that in that family the line ran out where there was anyone that cared anymore.
