Hotel Calkins, Clare Mich

I like this postcard for a number of reasons. I'm basically fond of the architecture of the period to start with and whoever composed this put a little of everything in it to show the time period. Theres the auto in the front along with three seperate horse drawn carts of differing types and the people. I suppose some might say the pic is a little busy but to me its perfect.

Apparently the Hotel Calkins is no more or at least I can't find any reference to it with a google search. There is a Hotel in Clare built around the same time that still operates, the Doherty but nothing about the Calkins, too bad.
I've included the back here, interesting as the writer makes reference to the travel differences between auto and horse.

Another Postcard

This postcard is French, pretty girl on the front which is good in any language. It was not posted but the back is full of writing. I do not speak, read French, anybody able to translate?

51 Plymouth

Not so vintage as most of the pictures I have posted but a nice picture of a neat car. It's the front of a postcard I think sent out by the dealers as an advertisement, maybe furnished by the dealers to thier customers. At least it's one I can identify.
Got some good pictures in the mail today, some of cars. Nice lady I buy from on Ebay sent a couple of extra which I always appreciate. She checks in here now and then so I'll use this space for a big Thank You. Ebay is a good place to look for vintage photo's so long as you have some idea of what your doing, looking for and how much your willing to spend. Like anything else you need to be careful, a few sellers misrepresenting what they have or other tricky things but you can't go wrong with this seller.
