Girls and Car

Three girls hanging around the family car, maybe waiting for thier guy friends to come and go somewhere. This was one of a couple of pics from an album and in one of the others it showed one of the girls getting ready to crank the car up, crank should

be visable in enlargement of this (click for big size).

Well, thanks to your picture posts, I'm finding my definate lack of knowledge in the social history of the early 20th century! (and I used to think I knew quite a bit in the area!) I'm going to have to work on that.
    Thanks for the challenge.
Just two quick questions: Do you happen to have the year? AND - look at the back window of the car: do you think that's a pattern in the window or the house?
Finally: I understand that the crank to start the car could break the arm of an unwary cranker!
Thanks again for the posts - they are great!

  2. I think the pattern is in the window of the car. As for the year I don't know but going to make an uneducated guess of early twenties. I have heard that about the cranks as well, had to know what you were doing but then in all the pictures I see there aren't a lot of folks in casts. If you know what is what the rear windows are a good way to ID and date the cars, most models being different. Another interesting thing is that the steering wheels in the early day were not standard placement, some on the left and some on the right, not sure when they straightened that out either.
